The purpose of this role is to lead domain-led transformation initiatives by overseeing delivery governance, reviewing forecasting models, and supervising teams, while ensuring business outcomes through revenue growth and opportunity identification.

Business process analysis : Review deliverables defined as part of domain-led transformation initiatives to ensure successful execution.

Market research & benchmarking : Review of forecasting models, cost benefit analysis and define alternate process methodologies applied as part of benchmarking and analysis. Plan and forecast strategies across enterprise engagements, ensuring consistency and scalability.

Optimization Initiatives : Lead domain optimization and solution programs, ensuring governance, quality, and value creation for clients. Conduct performance review, facilitate professional development and mentor consultants.

Technical Documentation : Review and approve documentation ensuring functional accuracy, completeness, and alignment with domain standards and organizational objectives. Provide guidance to teams in maintaining consistency, clarity, and quality across all deliverables. 1. Role Purpose

The L3 CloudOps Platform Support Lead will provide advanced operational and technical leadership for Abbott's cloud-hosted IaaS, PaaS, and cloud-native container platforms across Microsoft Azure and AWS. The role is accountable for complex incident resolution, service continuity, platform health, infrastructure automation, networking, backup and restoration, cost control, high availability, disaster recovery, and continuous operational improvement within Abbott's approved cloud landing zones and processes.

2. Key Responsibilities

2.1 Cloud-Hosted IaaS Environment Support

Coordinate with cloud hosting provider support teams to resolve cloud service-related technical issues and maintain service continuity.
Lead complex L3 troubleshooting, root cause analysis, problem management, and preventive remediation for cloud infrastructure incidents.
Leverage and enhance automation scripts to streamline operational, provisioning, and support activities.
Provision virtual machines using approved operating system golden images through Terraform and Ansible.
Identify and power down unused virtual machines to optimise cloud costs, following approved change and governance processes.
Decommission cloud resources in accordance with Abbott’s approved cloud decommissioning process.
Provide technical coordination for mutually agreed maintenance activities between Abbott and the CloudOps team.

2.2 Cloud-Native Networking Services

Administer DNS services, including DNS zone configuration and DNS record creation, modification, and troubleshooting.
Administer cloud-native load balancers, including health-check or monitoring-probe configuration and iRules management where applicable.
Provision and update VPCs, VNETs, subnets, routes, and associated network configurations in line with approved designs.
Perform configuration management and operational support for cloud-native firewall services.
Provision infrastructure through Terraform for third-party firewall solutions, including Zscaler and Alkira, based on designs and requirements provided by the Abbott Security team.
Lead technical diagnosis of complex connectivity, name-resolution, routing, load-balancing, and firewall issues across cloud environments.

2.3 Cloud-Native Kubernetes and PaaS Operations

Provide container provisioning, deployment, configuration, scaling, and lifecycle management support.
Manage Kubernetes cluster health and produce operational metrics and KPI reporting for all in-scope clusters.
Plan and execute Kubernetes platform patching, upgrade support, certificate management, and post-change validation.
Provide Kubernetes monitoring and observability support, including New Relic dashboards, APM configuration, alerts, and customer synthetic monitoring enablement.
Troubleshoot complex cluster, node, pod, ingress, storage, network, performance, and availability issues.
Provide operational configuration support for in-scope cloud-native PaaS services in accordance with approved runbooks and Abbott standards.

2.4 IaC, Orchestration, Automation and CI/CD

Deploy and configure cloud infrastructure pipelines for orchestration and automation using Terraform, Ansible, and Jenkins.
Perform configuration management for in-scope cloud-native IaaS, CaaS, and PaaS services.
Orchestrate cloud infrastructure services and resource provisioning on Abbott’s existing cloud landing zones.
Monitor infrastructure pipelines during deployment, diagnose failed stages, coordinate remediation, and validate successful completion.
Enhance reusable modules, playbooks, templates, and pipeline controls while maintaining versioning, peer review, auditability, and rollback readiness.
Promote automation-first operations and reduce repetitive manual activities through standardised, secure, and repeatable workflows.

2.5 Backup and Restoration

Coordinate backup and restoration activities for Azure Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, Storage Accounts, Virtual Machines, and other approved in-scope cloud services.
Administer cloud-native backup policies, schedules, retention settings, vault configurations, and restoration requests within the approved operating model.
Perform backup monitoring, exception handling, restoration validation, and backup reporting.
Lead L3 investigation of failed backups and restorations, coordinating with platform, application, database, and cloud-provider teams as required.

2.6 Cloud Cost Control and Inventory Tracking

Administer Resource Groups and manage their lifecycle in accordance with Abbott governance requirements.
Maintain a centralised inventory of in-scope cloud infrastructure assets and support reconciliation of ownership and lifecycle status.
Define, implement, and enforce cloud resource tagging in line with Abbott processes.
Perform cloud cost monitoring, reporting, forecasting, and variance analysis using cloud-native cost management and optimisation tools.
Identify and recommend rightsizing, scheduling, decommissioning, storage-tiering, commitment, and other cost-optimisation opportunities.
Partner with service owners to validate recommendations and track approved optimisation actions to closure.

2.7 High Availability and Disaster Recovery Support

Coordinate and execute periodic DR infrastructure failover and failback tests using Abbott’s existing DR test plans.
Configure and support Azure Site Recovery for VM-based failover across Azure regions.
Perform failover and failback testing, capture technical observations, and identify gaps in DR design, configuration, procedures, and readiness.
Facilitate infrastructure prerequisites before DR testing as requested by the DR Design and Build team.
Lead technical troubleshooting during DR exercises and support closure of post-test corrective actions.

2.8 L3 Technical Leadership and Service Management

Own major technical escalations and provide authoritative L3 guidance across IaaS, PaaS, CaaS, networking, automation, backup, and DR domains.
Lead incident, problem, change, and service-request activities in accordance with Abbott processes, controls, and service priorities.
Produce and maintain runbooks, standard operating procedures, knowledge articles, architecture and configuration records, and troubleshooting guides.
