About Wood Grain Junkie
We build tools for people who actually make things.
Every product we sell is designed with purpose and built to perform — most of it made right here in our own shop. From router base plates to safety upgrades, we're obsessed with helping makers work smarter, safer, and with more confidence.
We're small, we're fast, and we're family-run. No corporate layers, no red tape — just a tight crew that takes real pride in what goes out the door.
About the Role
Right now our biggest need is content that actually stops the scroll and keeps people watching — not just content that exists. We build cool stuff every day in the shop, and we need someone who knows how to hook a viewer, tell a story, and turn that into consistent, engaging posts.
This role is hands-on. You'll be planning, shooting, editing, and posting — building our organic presence day to day. Over time, as you get to know the brand and what's working, this grows into owning our content strategy and brand voice. Paid ads are handled separately — this is about organic content and building a real following of woodworkers who trust what we make.
You should be comfortable being self-directed. We're a small, busy shop, so you need to be able to walk the floor, spot what's worth filming, and go get it without someone setting it up for you.

What You'll Be Doing
- Hooking viewers in the first few seconds and structuring content that keeps them watching
- Planning out video structure — script or outline — before shooting, not just filming and hoping it comes together in the edit
- Shooting and editing video content (product demos, shop footage, behind the scenes)
- Managing and growing our social channels organically — we're already at 200K+ followers/subscribers across platforms, and you'll help us build on that
- Developing a consistent posting rhythm and content voice for the brand
- Spotting content opportunities on your own in a working shop environment
- As you settle in, helping shape overall content strategy and brand direction
What We're Looking For
- Know how to hook a viewer in the first few seconds and keep them watching all the way through
- Comfortable planning a video's structure (script or outline) before shooting, not just filming and hoping it comes together in the edit
- Strong sense of pacing and storytelling — an eye for what actually makes content watchable, not just "on brand"
- Genuine comfort in the maker, DIY, or tools world — you don't need to be a woodworker, but you should feel at home around shop tools, builds, and that community
- Comfortable on camera and behind it — this isn't a desk job
- Solid technical foundation: shooting with a Sony A7 or mobile phone camera, basic audio gear (lav/shotgun mics), lighting and composition, and editing in CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, Premiere, or similar (After Effects/motion graphics a plus)
- Comfortable working in both vertical (Reels/TikTok/Shorts) and horizontal (long-form how-to's and demos) formats
- Solid file organization and workflow habits — managing footage, backups, keeping projects organized
- Self-starter who doesn't need every shot planned out for them
Show Us Your Work
Please share 2–3 examples of content you've created that performed well — a reel, TikTok, or video where you can point to the hook, the structure, and why it worked. Links to your own channel, brand work, or freelance samples are all fine.
Applicants who include real work samples will have a significant advantage in consideration — this is one of the most important parts of the role, and we want to see it in action, not just hear about it.
Why This Role Matters
We're a small team — every person matters. This role is critical to how customers and future customers see us. You won't be a number here. You'll be part of building something.
Pay: $24.00 - $32.00 per hour
Benefits:
- Flexible schedule
- Paid time off
Application Question(s):
- We care more about what you've actually made than what your resume says. Please provide a link to 2–3 examples of content you've created that performed well — personal channel, brand work, or freelance samples all count.
- The difference between content that gets watched and content that gets scrolled past usually comes down to planning, not luck. What's your process for planning a video before you shoot it — do you script it out, work from an outline, or something else?
- This role puts you in a working shop around tools, machines, and builds every day. We're looking for people who are genuinely energized by that environment, not just tolerant of it. Describe your experience with woodworking, DIY projects, or the maker community — what have you built, worked on, or been involved in?
- This role is full-time and in-person in Englewood. If most of your recent work has been freelance or contract-based, are you looking to move into one full-time role, or are you hoping to keep other clients alongside this position?
