Reporting to Wuxly’s Head of Industrial Design, the Sample Sewer will support the Design and Product Development team by constructing high-quality garment samples from initial development through pre-production. This role works closely with designers, pattern makers, and product developers to interpret patterns and technical specifications, identify construction challenges, and refine sewing methods and garment finishes. The Sample Sewer will play an important role in bringing new product concepts to life while maintaining Wuxly’s standards for quality, craftsmanship, and performance. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, highly skilled in garment construction, and enjoys collaborating in a hands-on product development environment.
- Please note that this position is an on-site role, to be performed from the Wuxly Innovation Centre (1680 Courtneypark Drive East, Mississauga). Candidates should be available to work from the Innovation Centre as part of their regular schedule.
We are open to both part-time and full-time commitments for this role. The specific schedule and expected hours can be discussed based on the candidate’s availability and the needs of the position.
What You WIll Get Up To:
- Construct high-quality garment samples according to patterns and technical specifications.
- Sew development, fit, sales, and pre-production samples accurately and efficiently.
- Collaborate with designers and pattern makers to resolve construction challenges.
- Identify sewing issues and recommend practical improvements to garment construction.
- Operate industrial sewing machines and specialized equipment safely and effectively.
- Maintain consistent stitch quality, seam finishes, and overall garment craftsmanship.
- Review patterns, specifications, and reference samples before beginning garment construction.
- Support fittings by completing timely alterations and sample revisions as required.
- Handle technical fabrics, insulation, trims, and performance materials with precision.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient sample sewing workspace.
Skills And Qualifications We’re Looking For:

- 3+ years of professional sewing experience, preferably in apparel or outerwear.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, sewing techniques, and finishing methods.
- Proficiency operating industrial sewing machines and specialized garment equipment.
- Experience working with technical fabrics, insulation, linings, and performance materials.
- Ability to accurately interpret patterns, technical specifications, and construction details.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills within a fast-paced development environment.
- Ability to manage priorities independently and complete samples within established timelines.
