Cloud Software Engineer Skill Level 1
Wyetech is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer Skill Level 1 to support cloud software research, development, and engineering efforts in a mission-focused environment. The selected candidate will contribute throughout the software lifecycle, including requirements analysis, development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, sustainment, testing, validation, and issue diagnosis and resolution.
This position is ideal for a software engineer interested in developing scalable cloud and big-data solutions while gaining hands-on experience with distributed computing, NoSQL technologies, Hadoop ecosystems, and modern software-development practices.
What You’ll Do:
- Support cloud software research, development, and engineering activities.
- Perform requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, sustainment, testing, and validation.
- Diagnose and resolve software issues and support ongoing application maintenance.
- Develop software using high-level programming languages such as Java, C, or C++.
- Develop and integrate software within highly distributed computing environments.
- Work with Open-Source NoSQL technologies supporting massively parallel computation, such as HBase, Accumulo, BigTable, or comparable technologies.
- Perform software integration and testing activities.
- Develop and implement test plans and test scripts to validate software functionality and performance.
- Support scalable big-data and cloud-computing environments.
- Collaborate with engineers and other technical team members to troubleshoot problems and deliver reliable software solutions.
Required Qualifications:
- At least two (2) years of experience in software development or software engineering, including requirements analysis, software development, installation, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, and problem diagnosis/resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to work with Open-Source NoSQL products supporting highly distributed, massively parallel computing requirements, such as HBase, Accumulo, BigTable, or comparable technologies.
- At least one (1) year of experience developing software using high-level programming languages such as Java, C, or C++.
- At least two (2) years of experience in software integration and software testing, including developing and implementing test plans and test scripts.
Education:
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field from an accredited college or university is highly desired and may be considered equivalent to two (2) years of experience.
- Degrees in Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering, or a similar technical discipline will be considered qualifying technical fields.
Desired Technical Qualifications:
- Hadoop/Cloud Developer Certification.
- Experience with Open-Source NoSQL technologies such as HBase, Accumulo, and BigTable.
- Experience with MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, and/or Pig.
- Experience with the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS).
- Experience supporting Big Data cloud scalability, including environments or architectures comparable to Amazon, Google, or Facebook-scale systems.
- Experience designing and developing web applications using JavaScript.
- Experience designing and developing automated analytic software, techniques, and algorithms.
- Experience with compute-cluster monitoring tools such as Hobbit or Ganglia.
- Experience with Accumulo internals, including configuring, tuning, and testing Accumulo across large-scale environments of more than 200 nodes.
- Understanding of distributed computing, cloud architectures, and large-scale data-processing environments.
Clearance Requirements:
- Active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph is required.

Salary Range: $49.90 to $88.74 per hour
Hourly pay rates listed for this position serve as a general guideline and are not a guarantee of compensation. Compensation will vary dependent upon factors including but not limited to: Government contract rates; education; relevant prior work experience, knowledge, skills, and competencies; certifications, and geographic location. Hourly pay rates reflect the pre-benefit gross wage amounts.
