Cloud Test Engineer – Test Engineer (TE) Skill Level 2

Wyetech is seeking a Cloud Test Engineer – Test Engineer (TE) Level 2 to join our mission-driven Cyber Missions team in Annapolis Junction, MD. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the quality, reliability, performance, and security of cutting-edge cloud solutions supporting high-impact missions.

As a Cloud Test Engineer, you will lead and execute testing efforts across task-order initiatives, working hands-on with applications transitioning to—or already operating within—the AWS cloud environment. You will collaborate with solution providers, developers, engineers, and other technical teams to validate functionality, performance, integration, and production readiness.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and execute testing efforts for cloud-based applications and infrastructure.
  • Perform configuration and functional testing for applications deployed within AWS.
  • Conduct both manual and automated testing to ensure high-quality, reliable solutions.
  • Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, test procedures, and automated tests.
  • Analyze and interpret test results to identify defects, performance issues, and areas requiring additional investigation.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, replicate, and help resolve automation and software issues.
  • Create detailed bug/discrepancy reports and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams through resolution.
  • Validate deployment of application code and infrastructure using modern DevOps tools and practices.
  • Test and support cloud deployments utilizing Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration into AWS production environments.
  • Analyze system requirements, Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), acquisition plans, and system descriptions to develop appropriate evaluation and test plans and procedures.
  • Conduct test data collection and analysis and report testing status, findings, and results.
  • Support development of Government Test & Evaluation documentation, including T&E Strategies, Test & Evaluation Master Plans, Event Test Plans, Test Readiness Assessments, and T&E Reports.
  • Work with other test organizations to support Test & Evaluation program integration.
  • Provide specialized T&E capabilities appropriate to system functionality, maturity, and performance requirements.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance for Level 1 testing activities performed by Level 0 and Level 1 Test Engineers assigned to the task.
  • Work directly with the Government sponsor to coordinate task implementation.
  • Maintain knowledge of current and evolving agency, national, and international standards applicable to supported systems.

Required Qualifications:

  • Five (5) or more years of experience as a Test Engineer on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Engineering Management, or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Four (4) additional years of Test Engineering experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience developing and maintaining test plans, test cases, and automated tests.
  • Proficiency in manual testing and analyzing and interpreting test results.
  • Ability to identify, troubleshoot, replicate, and resolve software and test-automation issues.
  • Experience creating bug tickets and discrepancy reports and collaborating with cross-disciplinary technical teams.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience supporting testing and integration of modern hardware/software systems.
  • Knowledge of developing and implementing test strategies, plans, traceability matrices, procedures, and reports.
  • Experience writing test cases and discrepancy reports.
  • Familiarity with basic UNIX or Windows commands and writing test scripts.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph is required.

Cloud & DevOps Experience:

  • Experience testing applications and infrastructure operating within AWS cloud environments.
  • Experience validating cloud deployments and infrastructure configurations.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), particularly Terraform.
  • Experience testing deployments utilizing Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Familiarity with modern DevOps processes and cloud application deployment.
  • Ability to validate functionality, integration, performance, and production readiness of cloud-based solutions.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with test automation tools or demonstrated willingness and ability to learn test-automation technologies.
  • Familiarity with software integration and writing automated tests.
  • Knowledge of web technologies and databases, or willingness to learn.
  • Experience designing and executing automated testing systems.
  • Ability to replicate errors and analyze test data to evaluate system performance and efficiency.
  • Experience supporting cloud-based applications transitioning into production environments.

Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Lead testing activities and provide technical guidance to junior Test Engineers.
  • Recommend draft test plans and reports for approval by task leadership.
  • Coordinate directly with Government sponsors and technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with software developers, Systems Engineers, solution providers, and cloud engineering teams.
  • Communicate testing status, risks, defects, and results clearly to technical and program stakeholders.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph is required.

Salary Range: $48.37 to $103.31 per hour

Hourly pay rates listed for this position serve as a general guideline and are not a guarantee of compensation. Compensation will vary dependent upon factors including but not limited to: Government contract rates; education; relevant prior work experience, knowledge, skills, and competencies; certifications, and geographic location. Hourly pay rates reflect the pre-benefit gross wage amounts.
