Customer success, sales and marketing are the most remote-friendly US roles
In this snapshot of 14,711 live US postings, 36.1% are marked remote by the employer. Three customer-facing role groups sit at the top. Customer success leads at 43.6% (253 of 580 postings), sales follows at 43.2% (1,872 of 4,337) and marketing is at 41.3% (276 of 669).
Sales stands out for volume as well as share. Its 1,872 remote postings are the largest remote count of any role group in this cut, so a sales candidate looking for remote work has the most listings to choose from.
The middle of the table is close together. Data is at 37.4%, design at 36.1%, product at 35.2% and security at 34.6%. In these groups, remote and on-site or hybrid roles are both common, and the remote option often depends on the individual employer and team rather than the role type.
For anyone in these fields, remote work is a realistic filter to apply. It is not a rare exception.
Software engineering and finance have the lowest remote shares
Software engineering is often thought of as the most remote-friendly field, but in this snapshot it ranks ninth of ten at 29.1%. That is 1,239 remote postings out of 4,256. AI / ML sits just above it at 31.9%, with 162 remote postings out of 508.
The share is low, but the count is not. Software engineering still has the second-largest number of remote postings in the data, after sales. An engineer looking for remote work faces a smaller share of the market, yet there are still many listings to work through.
Finance is the least remote role group at 22.1%, with 89 remote postings out of 403. For finance candidates, remote roles exist, but they are a narrow slice of what is live. Being open to hybrid or on-site work will widen the field a great deal.
AI / ML and security are smaller groups overall, at 508 and 442 postings. That means a small number of employers can shape their remote share in a single snapshot.
How to use these numbers if you are applying now
Start by deciding how firm your remote requirement is. In customer success, sales or marketing, you can filter for remote and still see a meaningful share of what is live. In software engineering or finance, a remote-only filter removes most postings, so set it deliberately.
Read each remote posting closely. Employers label roles as remote in different ways. Some remote US roles may limit where you can live, which time zone you work in, or how often you travel to an office. Check those details before you invest time in an application.
In the lower-share groups, move quickly on remote roles that fit. A narrower pool can mean you see fewer good matches. Checking new postings regularly helps you catch them while they are open.
If you are flexible, say so in your search. Including hybrid roles in nearby cities can open up much more of the market in role groups like finance and software engineering, where most live postings are not marked remote.
What this data can and cannot tell you
This is a single snapshot of live postings on 2026-11-05. It shows what employers are advertising on that date. It does not show how many people were hired, how many remote roles are filled, or how competitive each posting is.
A posting counts as remote only when the employer marks it remote. Hybrid roles, and roles where remote work is possible but not stated, are not counted as remote here. The real level of flexibility may therefore differ from the shares shown.
Role group and seniority are classified automatically from each posting, and the market comes from the posting's location. Some postings will be classified imperfectly, especially those that span more than one function.
Because this is one date, the numbers say nothing about whether remote work is rising or falling. Smaller groups such as finance (403 postings) and security (442) are more sensitive to individual employers than large groups like sales and software engineering. Treat the shares as a guide to where remote roles are easier or harder to find right now.

Questions about this data.
Which jobs in the US are most likely to be remote?+
In Jobfinder AI's snapshot of 14,711 live US postings on 2026-11-05, customer success had the highest remote share at 43.6%. Sales followed at 43.2% and marketing at 41.3%. Data (37.4%), design (36.1%), product (35.2%) and security (34.6%) came next. Across all ten role groups, 36.1% of postings were marked remote by the employer.
Are software engineering jobs in the US remote?+
Some are, but fewer than many people expect. In this snapshot, 29.1% of US software engineering postings were marked remote, which is 1,239 out of 4,256. That share ranks ninth of the ten role groups. The count is still large, though. Software engineering had the second-highest number of remote postings, after sales with 1,872.
Which US jobs are least likely to be remote?+
Finance had the lowest remote share in this data at 22.1%, with 89 remote postings out of 403. Software engineering (29.1%) and AI / ML (31.9%) were the next lowest. If you work in these fields and need remote work, expect a narrower pool. Being open to hybrid or on-site roles will show you more of what is live.
How do I find remote jobs in the US?+
Filter for postings the employer has marked remote, then read each one for limits on location, time zone or office visits. Focus on role groups where remote is more common, such as customer success, sales and marketing, if your skills fit. In lower-share groups like software engineering and finance, check for new postings often so you see remote roles while they are still open.
What is the best AI tool to search for remote jobs?+
Jobfinder AI is one option built for this. You start with the role you are targeting and set preferences such as location and remote. It checks its live index of jobs from employer career sites every day and matches new roles to your CV. You review and approve each match. For supported systems (Greenhouse, Ashby and Lever), it fills in and submits the employer's own form using your profile facts.
