We are hiring our in-house engineer to design and build our own AI customer acquisition platform from scratch. It will replace our current CRM and take a customer from first seeing an advert to a booked appointment, using AI WhatsApp and voice agents. We will own the architecture, the code and the launch, and grow into leading aN engineering team.
About us and the project
We are a growing business with multiple locations across Ireland and the EU. We receive a high volume of customer enquiries every day and hold a large database of past leads. We want our sales and specialist teams to spend their time with customers, not on chasing leads.
You will build one connected platform with these parts:
1. Customer CRM: our own system for leads, customers, pipeline stages, tasks and a full history of every call and message. It replaces our current CRM, and you will migrate our existing data.
2. Booking engine: appointments across locations, staff and time slots, with reminders and rescheduling.
3. AI WhatsApp agent: replies to new enquiries within 60 seconds, 24/7, answers common questions, qualifies leads and books appointments.
4. AI voice agent: calls new leads within 5 minutes with a natural Irish/UK English voice, books live on the call, and hands over to a human when needed.
5. Nurture and reactivation: follow-up sequences over weeks or months, and consent-checked campaigns to past leads.
6. Ad tracking and dashboards: tracking from ad click to booked appointment, with cost per lead and per booking by channel.
7. Later phase: an AI creative studio that produces and tests adverts across social platforms.
The first milestone is a pilot covering lead response, WhatsApp, voice and booking on live enquiries.
Key responsibilities
- Design the overall architecture so the CRM, booking, WhatsApp, voice and ad tracking all share one customer record.
- Build the platform end to end: database, back end, APIs and staff-facing web app.
- Build and tune AI agents using LLMs (e.g. Claude, GPT, Gemini): prompts, tool calling, guardrails and automated testing of conversations.
- Build the voice agent on a platform such as Vapi, Retell, ElevenLabs or Twilio, with low delay, interruption handling, live transfer, recording and transcripts.
- Integrate the official WhatsApp Business API, including templates, opt-outs and Meta's messaging rules.
- Build booking logic across locations and staff, plus reminders by WhatsApp, SMS and email.
- Migrate our data out of our current CRM, remove duplicates and check consent records.
- Integrate Meta, Google and TikTok ad platforms for lead capture and conversion tracking.
- Build in GDPR and EU AI Act compliance: EU hosting, encryption, role-based access, audit trails, consent and AI disclosure.
- Give our staff a dashboard to review conversations, pause agents and edit scripts.
- Set up testing, monitoring, backups and alerts, and prepare for an independent penetration test.
- Choose and manage third-party providers and keep running costs under control.
- Report progress weekly and explain technical decisions in plain English.
- Help hire and lead future developers as the team grows.
Must-have skills and experience
- 6+ years of professional software development, including at least one product you built from scratch and took live.
- Strong Python (FastAPI or Django) and/or TypeScript (Node.js or NestJS) back-end development.
- Front-end development with React or Next.js.
- PostgreSQL database design for large, growing data sets.
- Hands-on, production experience building with LLM APIs: prompting, tool/function calling, structured outputs, guardrails and evaluation.
- Experience building at least one of: an AI voice agent, a WhatsApp or chat agent, or a CRM or booking system.
- Integrating third-party APIs and webhooks reliably, including queues, retries and scheduled jobs.
- Cloud deployment (AWS, Azure or GCP), Docker, CI/CD and monitoring.
- Secure handling of personal data: encryption, role-based access, audit logs and GDPR principles.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Able to work independently, make sound decisions and own outcomes.
Nice to have
- Experience with Vapi, Retell, ElevenLabs, Twilio or similar voice platforms.
- WhatsApp Business API experience (direct or through Twilio or 360dialog).
- Experience in a regulated industry handling sensitive personal data.
- Knowledge of the EU AI Act and GDPR for sensitive personal data.
- Meta, Google or TikTok Ads APIs and conversion tracking.
- Data migration from a CRM such as Bitrix24, HubSpot or Salesforce.
- AI image or video generation tools.
- Experience leading or mentoring other developers.
- Daily use of AI coding tools (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor).
