Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Logistics & Import Manager to manage end-to-end import operations, international logistics, customs clearance, procurement coordination, and domestic transportation. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely and cost-effective movement of imported materials, maintaining compliance with import regulations, and coordinating with international suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Import Operations
- Manage end-to-end import procedures, from purchase order confirmation to final delivery at the warehouse.
- Coordinate with international suppliers for order processing, shipment schedules, and shipping documentation.
- Handle import documentation, including Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Bills of Lading, Certificates of Origin, and other required documents.
- Coordinate customs clearance, duty payments, and related import formalities.
- Ensure compliance with DGFT, Customs, FEMA, GST, and other applicable import regulations.
- Monitor shipment status and ensure timely clearance and delivery.
2. International Logistics
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs house agents (CHAs), and overseas suppliers.
- Negotiate freight rates and shipping terms to optimise logistics costs.
- Manage sea freight, air freight, and other international transportation requirements.
- Handle Incoterms such as FOB, CIF, EXW, and CFR.
- Track shipments and proactively resolve delays, documentation issues, and clearance challenges.
3. Domestic Logistics & Transportation
- Manage transportation of imported materials from ports to warehouses and project locations.
- Coordinate with transporters and logistics vendors.
- Monitor delivery schedules, transportation costs, and material movement.
- Ensure proper material handling and minimise transit damage.
4. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate records of import documents, shipping bills, invoices, and customs clearance records.
- Coordinate with finance and accounts teams for import payments, bank documentation, and foreign currency transactions.
- Monitor import duties, freight charges, insurance, demurrage, and detention costs.
- Ensure proper documentation for audits and statutory compliance.
5. Inventory & Warehouse Coordination
- Coordinate with warehouse teams for material receipt and stock updates.
- Ensure timely availability of imported materials for ongoing commercial interior projects.
- Monitor stock movement and coordinate material dispatches based on project requirements.
6. Vendor & Cost Management
- Develop and maintain relationships with international suppliers, freight forwarders, CHAs, and transport vendors.
- Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate competitive rates.
- Identify opportunities to reduce logistics and import costs.
- Prepare regular MIS reports on shipments, import expenses, and logistics performance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, or a related field.
- Minimum 9+ years of experience in import operations and logistics management.
- Strong experience in international shipping, customs clearance, and freight forwarding.
- Knowledge of Indian import regulations, customs procedures, GST, and DGFT guidelines.
- Hands-on experience with import documentation and Incoterms.
- Experience handling international suppliers and overseas shipments.
- Knowledge of ERP systems and MS Excel.
- Excellent negotiation, coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in managing international imports, particularly for building materials, interior products, flooring, ceiling systems, or construction-related materials.
The candidate must be capable of independently handling the complete import cycle, coordinating with overseas suppliers, managing customs clearance, controlling logistics costs, and ensuring timely material availability for commercial interior projects.
