Business Development Manager – Retail | Hetco
Hetco is looking for a motivated Business Development Manager to grow retail sales across our range of rice, flours, pickles, oils and snacks.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building customer relationships, identifying sales opportunities and developing lasting partnerships with retailers.
Key responsibilities
- Win new retail accounts, including independent grocery shops, convenience stores and supermarkets.
- Develop existing customer relationships to increase repeat orders and product listings.
- Visit retailers, introduce our product range and secure orders.
- Identify opportunities for promotions, product launches and in-store visibility.
- Negotiate pricing and commercial terms within agreed company guidelines.
- Coordinate with internal teams to support timely deliveries and resolve customer queries.
- Track sales activity, maintain customer records and achieve agreed sales targets.
- Monitor competitor activity, pricing and customer demand.
What we’re looking for
- Experience in business development, field sales or retail account management.
- Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- A proactive approach to finding customers and closing sales.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Willingness to travel regularly to visit customers.
Preferred experience and skills
- Experience selling rice, flours, pickles, edible oils, snacks or similar grocery and FMCG products.
- Knowledge of South Asian grocery products and the independent retail market.
- An established network of retail contacts.
- Alongside English, proficiency in one or more languages spoken across the Indian subcontinent—such as Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Punjabi, Gujarati, Bengali or Urdu—would be an advantage when working with our diverse customer base. This is desirable, not essential.
