Job Description and Duties
Under direction of Education Administrator I of the Focused Monitoring and Technical Assistance (FMTA) II Unit, the Associate Director of Data, Monitoring, and Local Educational Agency Support; and the Special Education Division Director, working cooperatively with program units and supervisors throughout the California Department of Education, the Analyst II independently provides support to FMTA staff in the areas of data collection, analysis of data or information, and analytical services as needed. Travel may be required.
Duties include:
- Provide independent analytical support to the FMTA II Unit, which includes providing specific monitoring, verification, and technical assistance.
- Analyze, log, and process assigned reports and correspondence in a database to track all interactions with district staff, including those in district offices and at school and program sites; parents; advocates; program managers; Special Education Local Plan Area staff; and other personnel who are responsible for complying with the corrective actions due to the Department by a specific timeline.
- Review correspondence and ensure compliance with the Department’s policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Provide focused technical assistance, serve as a resource for staff development, and support the efforts of the Units and Division projects by conducting surveys and needs assessments.
- Represent the Division and the Unit both internally and externally, attend various meetings, make presentations, gather feedback and concerns, answer questions, and promote networking among programs and agencies.

Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 4.62% in exchange for 8 hours of leave credits through October 2026.
