Fractional Technical Advisor / Tech Lead — Early-Stage Construction Technology Startup
TradeVera is an early-stage contractor-intelligence platform based in Cleveland, Ohio. We help contractors find better-matched opportunities, evaluate whether they are worth pursuing, organize follow-up, and learn from estimates, bids, wins, and losses.
We are seeking a practical, hands-on technical advisor who can help the founder review the existing product, prioritize improvements, strengthen security and reliability, and make sound technical decisions as we validate paid contractor pilots.
This is a small, part-time independent contractor role. It is not currently a full-time position.
Responsibilities:
- Review the existing FastAPI, SQLite, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript application
- Help evaluate pull requests, architecture, security, testing, backups, and deployment readiness
- Identify high-risk technical problems and recommend practical solutions
- Help prioritize features based on pilot feedback and business value
- Advise the founder in clear, nontechnical language
- Support planning for future developers and infrastructure growth
- Respect the privacy boundaries of TradeVera’s optional Second Chance Trades Initiative
Preferred experience:
- Python and FastAPI
- SQL databases and data migrations
- Web application security and authentication
- GitHub pull-request workflows
- Cloud deployment, preferably Render or a similar platform
- Early-stage SaaS products
- Experience mentoring nontechnical founders
- Interest in construction technology, workforce development, or reentry employment
Compensation and time:
$40–$50 per hour, approximately 6–8 hours per month, with an initial monthly budget of $300–$400. Work and payment must be approved within an agreed monthly scope. Any future increase, longer-term role, grant-funded work, or equity discussion would require a separate written agreement and is not guaranteed.
