Position: Physical Education Coach / Sports Coach Department: Athletics / Physical Education Reports To: Principal / Designated School Administrator
Position Summary
Good Tree Academy is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and experienced PE Coach to promote physical fitness, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship among students. The coach will be responsible for delivering engaging physical education activities, developing students' athletic skills, and organizing school sports programs, including soccer and/or basketball games.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, effective communication, and a commitment to Good Tree Academy's Islamic values and educational mission.
Key Responsibilities
Physical Education & Student Development
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate physical education lessons and activities.
- Teach fundamental athletic skills, fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Encourage student participation and promote healthy, active lifestyles.
- Adapt activities to accommodate different skill levels and abilities.
- Maintain a positive, structured, and safe learning environment.
Sports Programs & Game Coordination

Plan, organize, coordinate, and execute soccer and/or basketball games, including practices, friendly matches, tournaments, and competitions.

Develop seasonal sports schedules, practice plans, and game calendars.

Coordinate games with other schools and athletic organizations as approved by school administration.

Manage team selection, student participation, and game preparation.

Arrange game logistics, including facilities, equipment, transportation requests, and scheduling in coordination with administration.

Supervise and coach students during practices, games, and athletic events.

Communicate game schedules, requirements, and updates to school administration for approved distribution to families.

Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and respectful conduct during all athletic activities.
Student Safety & Supervision
- Ensure students are properly supervised during PE classes, practices, games, and athletic events.
- Follow all school safety procedures and student supervision expectations.
- Inspect sports equipment and activity areas for safety concerns.
- Report injuries, incidents, and behavioral concerns promptly to administration.
- Maintain appropriate student behavior and enforce school policies.
Communication & Collaboration
- Collaborate with school leadership, teachers, and administration to support athletic programs.
- Maintain organized schedules and communicate upcoming activities in advance.
- Provide updates regarding student progress, team performance, and athletic activities.
- Coordinate athletic events through established school approval and communication procedures.
- Support school-wide events and activities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience coaching soccer, basketball, or teaching physical education preferred.
- Strong understanding of sports fundamentals, coaching techniques, and student development.
- Experience working with elementary, middle, and/or high school students.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to independently plan and execute athletic activities and games.
- Commitment to student safety, positive discipline, and professional conduct.
- Ability to uphold Good Tree Academy's Islamic values and school policies.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
Performance Expectations
The PE Coach is expected to:
- Maintain well-organized and engaging PE lessons.
- Proactively plan and successfully execute soccer and/or basketball games throughout the school year.
- Submit game schedules and logistical needs to administration for approval in advance.
- Demonstrate accountability, professionalism, and effective time management.
- Maintain consistent student supervision and safety.
- Foster a positive athletic environment aligned with Good Tree Academy's mission.
Additional Responsibilities
The PE Coach may be assigned additional athletic, student supervision, or school-related responsibilities as needed to support Good Tree Academy's programs and operations.
