Hire Resolve's Client is seeking a dedicated, proactive, and experienced Construction Safety Officer to join their team in Vereeniging, Gauteng!

The successful candidate will play a key role in protecting employees, contractors, and project teams while helping ensure that construction activities are carried out safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Implement, maintain, and monitor occupational health and safety policies and procedures across construction projects.
- Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
- Ensure compliance with applicable South African occupational health and safety legislation and construction regulations.
- Monitor safe working practices relating to concrete construction, structural steel erection, fabrication, and associated building activities.
- Prepare, review, and maintain safety files, risk assessments, method statements, and other essential safety documentation.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions, and employee safety training.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, recommending preventative and corrective actions.
- Monitor the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce site safety standards.
- Work closely with project managers, contractors, supervisors, and site teams to promote a strong safety culture.
- Track corrective actions and ensure identified risks are addressed promptly.
- Support health and safety compliance across projects, including potential assignments elsewhere in Africa.
Requirements
- Matric certificate.
- SAMTRAC qualification.
- SACPCMP registration or the relevant recognised registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer.
- Mid-level experience in construction health and safety.
- Proven experience in both concrete construction and structural steel engineering environments is essential.
- Strong knowledge of construction safety legislation, risk assessments, site inspections, and incident reporting.
- Experience conducting safety audits, toolbox talks, and safety inductions.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams.
- Willingness to travel within Africa when required.
