Senior Business Development Manager

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Business Development professional to drive partnership growth in the payments ecosystem. You will source and close new opportunities with merchants, payment service providers (PSPs) and strategic partners, and build long-term relationships that support sustainable business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new business opportunities, including merchants, PSPs and strategic partners
- Build and maintain strong partner relationships to drive continued business growth
- Conduct market research and analyze industry trends, competitor activity and the local payment ecosystem
- Work closely with the Product, Operations, Compliance and Customer Support teams to launch projects and expand the business
- Manage partner onboarding, commercial negotiations, contract discussions and client management
- Gather market feedback and customer needs to inform product improvements and localization strategy
- Represent the company at business meetings, industry events and partner engagements
Additional Responsibilities for the Management Level
Candidates with management experience will also be responsible for:
- Building and leading a Business Development team
- Recruiting, training and developing team members
- Setting team KPIs and tracking performance
- Leading the team to achieve business targets
- Establishing BD processes and management frameworks
Requirements
Must-have:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree or above; Business, Marketing, Finance, Banking or related fields preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in business development, partnership management, account management or sales
- Prior experience in one or more of the following industries:
- Payments
- Fintech
- Banking
- E-wallet
- Remittance
- Forex
- Financial services
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship management skills
- Able to work independently and collaborate effectively across departments
- Fluent in both English and Mandarin (listening, speaking, reading and writing), with the ability to serve Chinese-speaking clients
- Willing to travel occasionally to meet clients and partners and attend industry events
Nice-to-have:
- Experience working with merchants, PSPs, payment gateways, banks or financial institutions
- Regional or cross-border business development experience
- Strong understanding of the payment ecosystem, digital payments or merchant acquiring
- An established network within the payments or fintech industry
Pay: RM11,000.00 - RM18,000.00 per month
