On 1 April 2026, NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) became one national organisation, focused on continuity today and a stronger, more connected service for tomorrow.

As part of this transformation, NSS and NES have joined to form a new organisation: Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland). This new organisation will play a pivotal role in supporting the renewal and ensuring the long-term sustainability of health and care services across Scotland.

About the Organisation:

PSD Scotland unites expertise from NES and NSS in a way that will allow us to accelerate national programmes to support the NHS to deliver better care, now and in the future.

We support staff with education and training, provide the tools and data that improve services, and run vital national functions such as procurement, logistics and blood, tissue and cell services.

The Post:

We are seeking a Data & Analytics Technician to join our Data & Analytics function, supporting the delivery of national digital and data services across NHS Scotland and the wider public sector.

This role sits within a technical team responsible for the design, build and support of data, business intelligence (BI), and analytics solutions. The postholder will contribute to the development of data pipelines, data warehousing solutions, and analytical outputs that support critical decision-making across health and care services.

Working alongside technical specialists, analysts, and service delivery colleagues, you will play a hands-on role in translating requirements into robust technical solutions. This includes supporting the build and optimisation of ETL/ELT processes, contributing to enterprise BI platforms, building of reports and dashboards, and the delivery of projects to agreed timelines and quality standards.

You will also engage with a modern data technology stack, with exposure to cloud-based platforms and tools, and will be supported to develop your technical skills as part of a collaborative and forward-looking team environment.

The Candidate:

We are looking for a motivated and technically capable individual with experience of, and a strong interest in, data and analytics, and digital service delivery.

You will bring:

  • Practical experience or training in developing BI or data solutions
  • Demonstrable SQL skills, and exposure to Python
  • An understanding of data warehousing and data lakehouse concepts and data pipeline development
  • Ability to interpret technical requirements and contribute to the development of innovative data and analytical solutions
  • Experience of delivering work to agreed plans, timescales and quality standards

You will also demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to engage with and communicate with a range of audiences
  • Professionalism and attention to detail, with a commitment on delivering quality outcomes
  • Effective team-work with the ability to work collaboratively, whilst also managing your own workload and responding positively to delivery pressures
  • A willingness to learn and engage in continuous professional development
  • An awareness of cloud computing concepts and modern data platforms

We are particularly interested in candidates who show curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging tools and approaches in analytics, including AI-enabled solutions and modern data architectures.

Location and Working Pattern:

Currently hybrid working with bases in Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Delta House, Glasgow.

Work pattern: Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week
