Job Purpose:
The Testing Engineer will be responsible for conducting electrical and functional tests on EV motors, controllers, and chargers to ensure performance, safety, and compliance with standards. The role requires strong knowledge of EV powertrain testing, dyno operations, and relevant IS/IEC standards, with accountability for documentation, reporting, and supporting product development for successful production release.
Key Responsibilities:
Testing & Validation
- Perform electrical and functional testing on EV motors, controllers, and chargers.
- Conduct dyno testing, thermal analysis, and field trials of EV powertrain systems.
- Tune controllers, update firmware/software, and verify system performance.
- Ensure compliance with IS and other relevant EV testing standards.
Performance Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze test results for electrical, thermal, and functional performance.
- Prepare, maintain, and release detailed test documentation and final reports.
- Recommend improvements based on testing data to enhance reliability and efficiency.
Support to Product Development
- Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to validate designs before production release.
- Support troubleshooting, debugging, and corrective action during prototype and validation phases.
- Assist in transitioning tested products into mass production while ensuring quality volume goals.
Compliance & Process
- Follow all test protocols, safety standards, and quality guidelines.
- Maintain testing equipment and ensure calibration/accuracy.
- Stay updated on evolving EV testing standards and best practices.
Skills & Qualification:
- B.E./B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 2–6 years in EV motor, controller, or charger testing/validation.
- EV motor testing (PMSM, BLDC, ACIM)
- Controller tuning and firmware/software updates
- Dyno testing and field validation trials
- Knowledge of IS/IEC/SAE standards for EV powertrain testing
- Testing of power electronics equipment (chargers, inverters, controllers)
- Strong analytical mindset, documentation skills, cross-functional collaboration.
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, analyzers, data loggers, etc.).
