Job Purpose:

The Electrical Machine Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing electric motors (PMSM, BLDC, SRM, Synchronous Reluctance, Induction) for applications in Electric Vehicles, Renewable Energy, Industrial Drives, and Motor Manufacturing. The role includes performing electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical simulations, supporting prototype development, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-performance and reliable motor solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Motor Design & Analysis:

  • Design and analyze electric motors based on application requirements.
  • Define and optimize motor parameters such as slot/pole combination, winding configuration, core dimensions, flux density, etc.
  • Evaluate performance metrics including torque, efficiency, power density, losses, back EMF, saturation, and field weakening.

Simulation & Validation:

  • Carry out electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical simulations using FEA tools (Ansys Maxwell, JMAG, Motor-CAD).
  • Support prototype development and validation testing of designed motors.
  • Interpret test data and iterate designs for improvements.

Collaboration & Documentation:

  • Collaborate with control engineers to ensure compatibility with motor drives/inverters.
  • Interface with mechanical design (CAD/SolidWorks) and manufacturing teams.
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation and design reports.

Skills & Qualification:

  • Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Machine Design
  • 1–4 years in motor design or electromagnetic systems, preferably with EV motors, traction motors, or high-efficiency industrial motors
  • Strong understanding of electromagnetic theory and rotating machine principles
  • Proficiency in motor design and analysis tools: Motor-CAD, Maxwell 2D/3D, Flux
  • Knowledge of motor winding techniques, insulation classes, lamination design
  • Familiarity with loss calculations: copper, core, stray, iron
  • Experience in thermal management of electric machines
  • Basic knowledge of motor control strategies (FOC, DTC) is a plus
