Job Purpose
Responsible for leading supplier evaluation, development, and quality assurance for all key bill-of-material (BOM) materials (Solar Cells etc.). Oversee IMS implementation and ensure product certification compliance (BIS, IEC, ETL). Manage incoming quality inspection, supplier feedback, and performance. Conduct Supplier Quality Review Meetings and drive corrective actions. Support new material trials and part development, using SAP-based systems for quality decisions. Maintain quality MIS, deviation reports, and train quality team members on standards and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Quality Management & Development
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers for critical solar-materials (cells, glass, encapsulants, back sheet, frames etc.).
- Drive supplier development programs: audits, capability assessments, process improvements.
- Conduct incoming quality inspections for raw materials; ensure feedback loop to suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance using KPIs (quality, delivery, rejections) and run Supplier Quality Review Meetings (SQRM).
- Facilitate root-cause analysis (e.g., 8D reports) and ensure timely corrective & preventive actions.
Certification & Compliance
- Lead IMS (Integrated Management System) implementation and maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with relevant product certifications: BIS, IEC, ETL, or other applicable standards.
- Maintain documentation and ensure external audit readiness for certification bodies and internal stakeholders.
New Material Trials & Part Development
- Support trials for new raw materials or process changes (e.g., different EVA/POE, new frame alloys).
- Collaborate with R&D / Engineering teams to validate material performance.
- Make data-driven decisions (using SAP) on material usage, deviation approvals, and qualification.
Quality Systems & Documentation
- Maintain quality MIS (management information system): track deviations, non-conformities, trends.
- Document and control quality procedures / work instructions / inspection plans as per ISO 9001:2015.
- Lead internal audits, supplier audits, and ensure non-conformances are closed out.
- Drive continuous improvement in quality processes — e.g., implementing SPC, FMEA, CAPA.
Training & Team Leadership
- Lead a team of quality engineers / inspectors — hire, mentor, review performance.
- Train team on quality standards, inspections, certification requirements, and audit practices.
- Promote a quality culture across plant operations and supplier base.
Reporting & Review
- Prepare periodic (weekly/monthly) reports on supplier quality, deviations, audit findings, corrective actions.
- Present to senior leadership on quality metrics, risk areas, and improvement initiatives.
- Lead SQRM (Supplier Quality Review Meetings) and drive accountability for action items.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Materials) or equivalent. Master’s (or MBA) is a plus.
- 5-9 years in quality management or supplier quality, preferably in solar module manufacturing, electronics, or discrete manufacturing.
- Deep understanding of supplier quality systems, audits, and development.
- Experience with quality tools: 8D, root-cause analysis, SPC, FMEA, CAPA.
- Knowledge of certifications / standards (IEC, BIS, ETL) and integrated management systems.
- Familiarity with SAP-based quality modules or ERP-MES integration.
