The Role

We are seeking an experienced Software Developer (Golang & AWS) to join a high-performing technology team delivering modern cloud-native applications and backend services within an AWS environment.

This role will focus on designing, developing, and supporting scalable microservices, serverless applications, and API-driven solutions using Go (Golang) and AWS-native technologies. Working alongside architects, developers, DevOps engineers, and business stakeholders, you will contribute to the delivery of secure, reliable, and high-performing software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications and microservices using Go (Golang)

Develop and support serverless solutions leveraging AWS Lambda and other AWS-native services

Design and optimise data models and access patterns using Amazon DynamoDB

Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven applications

Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD

Participate in solution design, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making activities

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver business and technology outcomes

Perform code reviews and champion software engineering best practices

Identify and resolve performance, scalability, reliability, and security issues

Create and maintain technical documentation and design artefacts

Provide operational support, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for production environments

What You'll Need

Strong commercial experience developing software using Go (Golang)

Hands-on experience working within AWS cloud environments

Experience building and supporting serverless applications

Strong experience with AWS services including Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, IAM, CloudWatch, and S3

Strong understanding of microservices and distributed system architectures

Experience designing, developing, and integrating RESTful APIs

Experience using GitLab for source control, branching strategies, and CI/CD automation

Knowledge of software engineering principles, testing methodologies, and clean coding practices

Strong understanding of NoSQL database design, performance tuning, and scalability considerations

Experience working within Agile delivery environments

Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills

Desirable Experience

Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation

Experience with Docker and Kubernetes containerisation technologies

Exposure to event-driven architectures and messaging services including SNS, SQS, EventBridge, or Kafka

Experience with observability, monitoring, and logging platforms

Experience delivering large-scale data migration projects, including transformation and reconciliation activities

Experience with Augur or similar cloud governance, reporting, or analytics platforms

Relevant AWS certifications

Previous experience working within consulting, enterprise, or government environments

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline

5-15 years' experience in software engineering, backend development, or cloud-native application development

Demonstrated experience delivering production-grade Golang solutions within AWS environments

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities

A collaborative mindset and commitment to delivering high-quality technology outcomes
