Job Summary
The Production Merchant is responsible for managing the end-to-end production process from order confirmation to final shipment. The role involves coordinating with buyers, vendors, factories, quality teams, and logistics to ensure products are delivered on time, meet quality standards, and achieve target costs.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning
- Coordinate with merchandising and sourcing teams to receive confirmed orders.
- Monitor production schedules and ensure timely execution.
- Track order progress from fabric booking to shipment.
Vendor Management
- Coordinate with factories and suppliers for production updates.
- Negotiate production timelines and ensure capacity availability.
- Build strong relationships with vendors for smooth execution.
- Evaluate vendor performance based on quality, delivery, and compliance.
Quality Management
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams during production.
- Ensure products meet specifications and quality standards.
- Follow up on corrective actions for quality issues.
- Monitor inline and final inspections.
Order Tracking & Reporting
- Maintain accurate production status reports.
- Share daily/weekly production updates
- Highlight potential delays and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure shipment documentation is completed accurately.
- Support timely dispatch of finished goods.
Cross-functional Coordination
- Work closely with Design, Product Development and Quality Team
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Technology, Textile Engineering, Apparel Merchandising, or a related field.
- 2–6 years of experience in apparel production merchandising or garment manufacturing.
- Experience in retail, export houses, or buying offices preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of garment manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of fabrics, trims, garments, and production techniques.
