Job Title: Cricket Coach / Instructor

Location: Hyderabad

Reports to: Head of Sports / Director of Athletics / Principal

Employment Type: Full-time / Part-time

Job Purpose:

To plan and implement a dynamic and inclusive cricket program that develops students’ technical skills, game understanding, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The coach will train students across age groups and skill levels and prepare them for internal and external competitions while promoting a lifelong interest in the sport.

Key Responsibilities:

Coaching & Training

Conduct regular cricket coaching sessions focusing on batting, bowling, fielding, and match strategy.

Teach cricket fundamentals such as grip, stance, footwork, shot selection, bowling action, and catching techniques.

Provide tailored coaching for beginner, intermediate, and advanced players.

Program Development

Design a cricket curriculum aligned with physical education goals and the school's sports philosophy.

Create seasonal training plans, team selection processes, and development pathways for students.

Promote cricket through inter-house tournaments, school festivals, and co-curricular activities.

Competition & Match Management

Prepare and manage school cricket teams for inter-school, district, or national competitions.

Plan fixtures, organize practice matches, and oversee match-day logistics.

Accompany teams to tournaments and act as team coach, manager, and mentor.

Student Development & Mentorship

Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to help improve technical and mental aspects of the game.

Instill values of discipline, resilience, teamwork, and respect.

Identify talent and support students interested in pursuing cricket at a higher level.

Equipment & Facility Management

Oversee the use and maintenance of cricket gear including bats, balls, pads, gloves, stumps, and nets.

Ensure the cricket pitch, nets, and practice facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained.

Maintain inventory and make requisitions for equipment as needed.

Safety & Supervision

Enforce safe practices during training and matches, including proper warm-up and cool-down routines.

Provide first response in case of injuries and maintain first aid readiness.

Ensure students are always supervised and follow safety protocols.

Collaboration & Communication

Coordinate with the sports department for scheduling, facilities, and school-wide sports planning.

Maintain open communication with students, parents, and school leadership regarding training, performance, and events.

Participate in school sports events, assemblies, and promotional activities.

Qualifications & Experience:

Certified Cricket Coach (e.g., ICC, BCCI Level 1/2, ECB, or equivalent)

Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or related field (preferred)

Minimum 2–5 years of coaching experience, ideally in a school or youth academy

First Aid & CPR certification (required)

Experience preparing school or youth teams for competitive matches (desirable)

Skills & Attributes:

Deep knowledge of cricket techniques, rules, and coaching principles

Strong leadership and communication skills

Ability to inspire and manage young athletes

High personal fitness and professional discipline

Strong organizational and planning abilities

Ability to work in a multicultural, inclusive, and international environment

Desirable (Optional):

Experience in coaching girls’ and boys’ cricket teams

Familiarity with local cricket boards and school leagues

Integration of cricket into IB/MYP PE or CAS programs

Experience in school residential/boarding environments

Ability to coach other sports or contribute to general PE curriculum
