About the role
We are looking for an experienced Principal Consultant specialising in ICT Business Analysis to join our growing team in Sydney.
This is a senior, client-facing role for an experienced technology consultant who can work with customers to understand complex business problems, analyse business processes and systems, define requirements and translate those requirements into practical technology solutions.
You will operate at the intersection of ICT business analysis, technology consulting, AI-enabled transformation, adoption and senior delivery leadership.
As a Principal Consultant, you will also provide strategic guidance to customers and lead complex engagements, working closely with business stakeholders, technical specialists, project managers and consultants to ensure solutions meet business requirements and deliver the intended outcomes.
This senior advisory and delivery aspect is consistent with Rapid Circle's existing Principal Consultant position, which includes customer and process-focused subject matter expertise, strategic guidance, project leadership and leading consultants, project managers and SMEs.
What you'll do
ICT Business Analysis
- Engage with customers, users and stakeholders to identify, analyse and document business and ICT requirements.
- Lead discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews and requirements workshops.
- Analyse existing business processes, systems, procedures and ways of working to identify business needs, inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
- Translate business needs into clear business, functional and system requirements for technology solutions.
- Develop requirements documentation, process maps, user journeys, business cases, reports and recommendations.
- Define acceptance criteria and support the validation of proposed solutions against documented business requirements.
- Evaluate solution options and recommend changes to systems, processes and ways of working.
- Act as the bridge between business users and technical teams, ensuring business requirements are accurately understood and translated throughout the solution lifecycle.
Solution Analysis & Technology Transformation
- Work closely with architects, consultants and technical specialists to translate business and functional requirements into practical technology solutions.
- Assess proposed solutions against customer requirements, business objectives and operational needs.
- Contribute to solution design and implementation by representing the customer's business and user requirements.
- Support solution testing, user acceptance and implementation activities.
- Identify and analyse the business impact of proposed technology changes.
- Support the transition of solutions into operational use, ensuring requirements and intended business outcomes remain central throughout delivery.

AI, Adoption & Change
- Bring a solid understanding of AI and modern cloud technology concepts, with the ability to understand how they can support business requirements and transformation objectives.
- Help customers identify and assess AI and automation opportunities based on defined business problems, processes and requirements.
- Translate AI and other technical concepts into clear business language for non-technical stakeholders.
- Assess how new technology and system changes may affect users, processes and ways of working.
- Apply change-management and adoption approaches to support successful implementation of new systems, technologies and processes.
- Support stakeholder engagement, communications, training and adoption activities appropriate to the engagement.
- Help customers navigate the organisational changes associated with technology transformation.

Consulting & Senior Delivery Leadership
- Lead complex customer engagements from discovery and requirements definition through solution delivery and adoption.
- Provide senior advisory and ICT business-analysis expertise to customers and project teams.
- Coordinate with business stakeholders, consultants, architects, project managers and technical specialists to achieve agreed outcomes.
- Manage ambiguity, dependencies, risks and competing stakeholder requirements across complex engagements.
- Maintain clear alignment between business requirements, solution scope and delivery outcomes.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to consultants and project teams.
- Contribute to the development of consulting frameworks, methodologies and reusable approaches.
- Build trusted, long-term customer relationships.
These responsibilities preserve the genuine Principal Consultant seniority of the position. The existing profile specifically includes mentoring, developing methodologies, specialist advice, project leadership and leading multidisciplinary delivery teams.
What we're looking for
Essential
- Significant professional experience in ICT business analysis, technology consulting, systems analysis, digital transformation or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience engaging with users and stakeholders to elicit, analyse, document and validate requirements for ICT systems or software solutions.
- Strong experience analysing business processes, systems, procedures and ways of working and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into clear business, functional and system requirements.
- Experience facilitating business-analysis workshops, stakeholder interviews and requirements-discovery activities.
- Experience developing requirements documentation, process models, functional specifications, business cases, reports or recommendations.
- Experience working with business stakeholders and technical specialists to translate requirements into technology solutions.
- Experience supporting technology solutions through requirements, solution definition, testing, implementation and adoption.
- Experience working within complex technology delivery environments.
- Strong analytical, facilitation, problem-solving and stakeholder-management capability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
You'll ideally also bring
- Experience in a senior consulting or client-facing ICT environment.
- Exposure to AI-enabled transformation, automation, cloud or Microsoft technologies.
- A solid understanding of AI concepts and their application within business and technology environments.
- Experience with adoption and change-management activities associated with new systems or technology.
- Experience providing delivery leadership across multidisciplinary technology teams.
- Experience mentoring consultants or other business-analysis professionals.
- Knowledge of technology governance and information-management practices.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications, ICT/business-analysis certifications or equivalent professional experience.
Who you'll be
You're comfortable working with ambiguity and asking the questions that get to the underlying business problem.
You can move between an executive conversation about business outcomes, a workshop with users about processes and requirements, and a discussion with a technical specialist about how those requirements translate into a technology solution.
You don't need to be an AI engineer. You do, however, need enough technical understanding to engage credibly with AI, cloud and modern technology concepts and translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Most importantly, you'll combine strong ICT business-analysis capability with senior consulting experience, technology understanding, change/adoption exposure and the ability to lead successful client engagements.
