About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to lead the design, development, and maintenance of data lakehouse solutions that support enterprise reporting, business intelligence, and advanced analytics.
The role focuses on building and optimizing data pipelines, developing analytical data models, improving data quality, and implementing data governance practices. The successful candidate will work closely with business, technical, platform, and infrastructure teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and cost-efficient data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end technical delivery of complex data and analytics solutions.
- Design, build, and optimize batch and near real-time data pipelines and analytical data models.
- Develop and maintain data lakehouse architecture, including bronze, silver, and gold data zones.
- Assess source systems and data quality, defining transformation logic, data standards, and controls.
- Translate business and technical requirements into technical designs, estimates, and delivery plans.
- Apply data engineering best practices, including modular design, reusability, performance optimization, and cost efficiency.
- Conduct code and design reviews to ensure quality, maintainability, and performance.
- Mentor and coach team members through technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
- Lead root cause analysis and resolve issues affecting data pipelines and platforms.
- Implement data governance practices, including data lineage, documentation, data quality checks, and secure data handling.
- Collaborate with platform and infrastructure teams to optimize cloud data platforms, such as Snowflake and Azure.
- Support DevOps and CI/CD practices, including automated testing, deployment pipelines, and environment management.
- Monitor critical data pipelines and data products, ensuring operational reliability, alerting, and adherence to SLAs.
- Evaluate new technologies and contribute to platform strategy and self-service data capabilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Deep experience in data transformation, ETL/ELT, and data management.
- Deep experience writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.
- Experience in data modeling using dimensional modeling techniques, particularly Star Schema.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, cloud computing, and Big Data platforms.
- Understanding of structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data.
- Experience with data streaming, messaging, and event-driven data architecture.
- Knowledge of data governance and data quality frameworks.
- Experience working in an Agile environment.
- Experience working with NoSQL databases, including graph, document, and column-oriented databases.
- Knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence concepts.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a small team and contribute to strategic goals.
