Job Summary:

The Ceramic Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of refractory ceramic materials used in various industrial applications. The role includes overseeing the production of high-performance ceramics, ensuring the materials meet quality standards, optimizing manufacturing processes, and conducting research to improve refractory properties for high-temperature environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Material Development and Testing:

  • Research and develop new ceramic materials, including refractory bricks, insulating ceramics, and other heat-resistant products.
  • Perform material testing to ensure performance under extreme conditions, such as high temperatures, thermal shock, and chemical exposure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize material formulations for specific applications.

Product Design and Innovation:

  • Design ceramic products for various industrial applications, ensuring they meet the required technical specifications and safety standards.
  • Develop prototypes, conduct trials, and analyze performance to refine product designs.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, material optimization, and product enhancement.

Manufacturing Process Optimization:

  • Oversee and improve manufacturing processes to ensure the efficient production of refractory ceramics.
  • Work closely with production teams to monitor the quality and consistency of ceramic products during manufacturing.
  • Identify and troubleshoot production issues, ensuring minimal downtime and waste.

Quality Control and Compliance:

  • Ensure all refractory materials comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and customer specifications.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures for the testing and inspection of ceramics during production.
  • Maintain accurate records of product testing, development processes, and compliance documentation.

Research and Development:

  • Conduct ongoing research to enhance the performance of refractory ceramics, focusing on improving durability, thermal resistance, and chemical stability.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in ceramic engineering and refractory materials.
  • Lead or participate in R&D projects to develop innovative solutions to industry challenges.

Technical Support and Consultation:

  • Provide technical support and guidance to production teams, customers, and clients on the application of ceramic materials.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to ceramic products in the field.
  • Collaborate with clients to design custom ceramic solutions based on specific needs.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:

  • Ensure all processes, equipment, and materials used in the production of refractory ceramics comply with health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Promote safe working practices and maintain a safe working environment for all team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Ceramic Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Proven experience working in a refractory, ceramics, or materials science-based industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of ceramic materials, especially refractory and heat-resistant materials.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes such as sintering, casting, and molding.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Familiarity with quality control systems and testing methods for ceramic materials.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with cross-functional departments.
  • Proficiency in using engineering software for design, modeling, and analysis.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with high-temperature applications and thermal analysis.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as ASTM and ISO related to refractory ceramics.
  • Knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) software.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work in a laboratory and industrial setting.
  • Occasional travel to customer sites or partner facilities may be required.
  • Safety equipment (PPE) must be worn when necessary.
