Key Responsibilities:
1) Technical Consulting:
Advise on the design, material selection, and lining of fusion furnaces and related equipment.
Recommend refractory solutions that optimize plant performance, energy efficiency, and material longevity.
Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to refractory wear, thermal failure, or process inefficiencies.
2) Process Optimization:
Analyze current fusion plant operations to suggest improvements in process control, thermal management, and refractory application.
Work with production teams to implement cost-effective and technically robust solutions.
3) Project Management:
Oversee refractory installation, relining, shutdown maintenance, and commissioning projects.
Coordinate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to ensure project timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
4) Material R&D and Testing:
Collaborate with R&D for testing new refractory products and technologies in fusion plant environments.
Conduct field trials and performance evaluations of refractory materials under extreme conditions.
5) Training and Documentation:
Train client and internal staff on best practices for refractory installation, handling, and maintenance.
Prepare technical reports, failure analyses, and presentations for stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in refractory applications or fusion plant operations.
- In-depth knowledge of high-temperature processing, thermodynamics, and refractory material properties.
- Familiarity with fusion processes (e.g., electric arc furnaces, induction melting, plasma furnaces, or nuclear fusion reactors) is a strong plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with CAD, thermal modeling, or simulation software (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL).
- Knowledge of industry standards (ASTM, ISO, API).
- Hands-on experience with refractory installation and inspection techniques.
- Project management certification (PMP) or Six Sigma training is a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Frequent travel to client sites and manufacturing plants.
- Exposure to high-temperature environments, requiring adherence to strict safety protocols.
