Job Description: Metallurgical Engineer

Position Overview: As a Metallurgical Engineer in our Fusion Plant, you will play a critical role in the development, testing, and optimization of refractory materials used in high-temperature applications. Your expertise will contribute to ensuring the integrity and performance of materials under extreme conditions, supporting our mission to deliver innovative solutions in the refractory industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Material Development:
  • Design and develop refractory materials suitable for fusion processes, focusing on high-temperature stability and thermal shock resistance.
  • Conduct research on new alloys and composites to enhance performance.
  • Testing and Analysis:
  • Perform metallurgical testing and analysis, including microstructural examination, mechanical testing, and thermal analysis.
  • Utilize techniques such as X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and differential thermal analysis (DTA).
  • Process Optimization:
  • Collaborate with production teams to optimize manufacturing processes for refractory materials.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure materials meet industry standards and specifications.
  • Problem-Solving:
  • Investigate material failures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and develop strategies for improvement.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, and quality assurance, to ensure alignment on project goals.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and findings to stakeholders.
  • Compliance and Safety:
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and environmental regulations in all engineering practices.
  • Participate in risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • 3+ years of experience in metallurgical engineering, preferably in the refractory or high-temperature materials sector.
  • Familiarity with fusion processes and related technologies is a plus.
  • Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in materials characterization techniques and data analysis software.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Certifications:
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory.

Work Environment: This position may require working in laboratory and manufacturing settings, with exposure to high-temperature processes and materials. Adherence to safety protocols is essential.
